2024 GLPWDC Pet Grooming Workshop (for PWDs only)

Instructor is Daphne Bowen (Cristopher) who has been grooming dogs professionally since 2006. She began participating in grooming competitions in 2016 earning multiple placements on the Portuguese Water Dog, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and the English Springer Spaniel. She earned the prestigious National Certified Master Groomer title from the National Dog Groomer's Association of America in 2017. Daphne obtained her first show dog in 2018, a Portuguese Water Dog "Brilho" bred by Robin Burmeister & Christie Kello. She finished Brilho's AKC Championship in two weekends as an Owner/Handler in early 2019. She has groomed many Portuguese Water Dogs for the show ring, including the Reserve Winner's Dog at the 2018 National Specialty. Daphne also holds an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology.

If you are a pet owner, performance owner, this workshop is tailored for you. Have you ever wanted to learn how to groom and clip your Portuguese Water Dog?  Then you must attend the full day hands-on workshop with a dog (may be your own dog or borrow one from a friend) to learn clippering and scissoring techniques and understand the difference between a lion trim and a retriever trim.  Find out which one works best for your dog.   You don't have a dog for the workshop, that is OK too... you can come to watch and learn - you have to start somewhere!


What is the cost to attend?
 

This workshop is limited to 20 attendees with dogs.  GLPWDC Members $50.00/Non Members $60.00 and includes lunch.

If you are attending the workshop with a spouse or friend with a dog and observing those who are grooming?  Observer fee is $25.00 and also includes lunch.

Grooming handouts will be provided.

ZOOM WILL BE OFFERED $45.00
